Our UltraScraper

Scrapers are often a required system component in the Food Industry. Food items can stick to different types of process and/or conveying belts, even to belts with non-stick properties. For this reason, and because cleaning efficiency and effectiveness are key Food Industry issues, scrapers are used.

Metal-detectable and antimicrobial scrapers are useful in further promoting hygiene and efficient food processing

Challenges

  • Some scrapers don't clean efficiently
  • Scrapers can wear out quickly
  • If there are positioning issues, scrapers can cause maintenance problems or even damage belts
  • Depending on the material used to make the scraper, food quality can be affected

Solution

Belting Corporation UltraScraper, made of high-quality co-extruded materials, was designed to be used on most conveyor frames and provides the following advantages:

  • Metal detectable for increased Food Safety
  • Excellent cleaning effectiveness, thanks to the UltraScraper’s soft-lip feature (aligned to belt hardness)
  • Antimicrobial properties using silver ion technology to reduce bacterial build-up
  • Longer belt and scraper lifetime (less stress on the belt and splice from the scraper)
  • Suitable for different belt types (Synthetic, Homogeneous or Modular Belts)
  • Compliant with EC 1935/2004 and with FDA Food Grade regulations

Belt Cleaning Know-how

Implementing the proper Food Safety measures often starts with cleaning on a regular basis. Downtime for cleaning and maintenance (like repairs following breakdowns) is costly, and should be kept to a minimum. The role of conveyor belt manufacturers is to offer products with features that facilitate the cleaning process and reduce downtime to achieve that perfect ratio between sanitation and efficiency.

Please inform us of your particular needs regarding cleaning instructions. We would be glad to recommend the appropriate cleaning agents for any of our belting products.

Ask your local Belting Corporation office for more detailed information and for any cleaning instructions you might need.

AntiMicrobial Belts for Enhanced Hygiene

In focusing on hygiene in the food processing industry, Belting Corporation has developed a wide range of AntiMicrobial belting, retaining the well known properties of the regular Food Grade belts.

The AntiMicrobial (AM) belting range – provided with Amseal closed belt edges – will help to keep the belt cleaner and reduce build-up of bacteria on the belt surface. Of course, maintaining and improving of cleaning procedures still remains essential*.

Belting Corporation AntiMicrobial belting range uses non-migrating materials – a technology based on silver ions. The belt is proven safe for human contact and effective against a broad spectrum of micro-organisms.

Food Grade Standards

Since food belts are permanently in contact with food during processing, they need to be Food Safe. Any migration of chemical substances into the food needs to be limited and strictly controlled.

To ensure that consumer health is protected, and to avoid any contamination of the foodstuff, Belting Corporation offers a complete range of friction-drive and positive-drive belts, all in full compliance with:

  • The latest EU regulations (EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011) and amendments
  • FDA standards for food-contact surfaces

As a leading global belting company, Belting Corporation approaches the market with products that meet EC, EU and FDA Food Grade levels. A number of our products also comply with USDA and NSF Food Grade standards. In addition, we are fully familiar with preventative systems to improve your Food Safety, and in particular with the ISO 22000 standard. The ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is an internationally recognised standard that combines the ISO 9001 approach to food safety management and previous HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) programs for the assurance of food safety at all levels.

With ISO 22000, the complete food production process is examined for potential physical, chemical and microbiological hazards. By uncovering and reacting to any health risks that might exist during preparation, processing, packaging and distribution, product safety is greatly increased.

Please check Food Safety Belting Solutions for helpful examples to support your own ISO 22000 requirements.

Setting the Food Safety standard in belting technology for the Food Industry
